Sorry You're Sick; How About You Work Anyway - FF Number 13

Did this for a friend of mine at work, years ago. The names have been changed, and the story has been butchered, but the problems are real... wait for it ...ly made up (I stole that joke from my friend, Chris).
They didn't actually want her to work in the hospital, of course.

Parents Are the Best - FF Number 11

I mean, really... who else bought half of all the stuff we sold for school fundraisers when we were kids?

When Froot Have Nightmares - FF Number 10

Yeah, I know, I need help. But I think it's funnier than, say, a nightmare about spiders or something. I hate spiders.

What Tupperware is Good For - FF Number 9

Tupperware isn't really useful to a piece of fruit - that's a given. But houses are useful, of course.

Drawing on Airplanes

Hey howdy,

I had some free time this afternoon, and thought I'd finish something small I'd started. I thought it'd take about an hour to wrap it up, and it did... small investment of time for a good feeling of accomplishment. If you're like me, you might start an awful lot of things, and see a rather sad percentage of them through to the end. This isn't a large project... only a picture I started when I was on a business trip earlier this year, while on an airplane. Since it's not a children's book, comic book, or series of illustrations, it seemed like a nice idea just to wrap it up; one less thing hanging around that I wish I'd done. It's been sitting in a pile of papers, half-inked, for months and months. I kind of like it, though it's unusual for me to draw something with no people or cartoon characters in it. I hope you like it too.

Hope you have a good day. Wish it wasn't going to get dark an hour earlier starting tomorrow!

Steve

Fruit Eating Froot - Some Things Are Just Wrong - FF Number 7

After starting a cartoon about talking fruit, you start thinking about what kind of things they would eat.
Isn't that awful? I think the live-in, talking worm was a nice touch as well.

Nice to Tree You: FF Number 6

If talking fruit, why not talking trees? And the trees are the parents, of course.

When Dinosaurs and Froot Roamed the Earth: FF Number 4

Sometimes I wonder why no one ever wanted to syndicate this thing. It keeps me up at night. I mean, why couldn't you have talking fruit and dinosaurs in the same comic strip? Some people wouldn't know brilliance if it fell from the sky and hit them on the head. :)

Froot Farm Number 3

Just trust me, after the first 5 or 6 it just starts getting brilliant. Or less dull, that is.

These are the jokes, kid. They get better, just hang in there. (c) Stephen Hesselman, 2002

Froot Farm - The Saga Begins - Enter Episode 1

Hi Fans,

Not sure if anyone will actually stumble across me here, but if you do, to start things out with, I'm planning on posting a bunch of comic strips I drew for a local paper a number of years ago. It's called Froot Farm. It's kind of quirky, but hopefully fun. Beyond this, I've got all sorts of old artwork, and I'm toying with the idea of drawing a new comic strip. But for now, here's the first Froot Farm. I drew all these back in 2002.

You can also find me posting these same things on Facebook and Myspace. I thought I might post them here as well, just because networking is fun, and you never know what old friends you might run into or new friends you might meet.

Peace,
Steve
